a2zparents and Starlight make a difference
- By Shari Reinhart

Starlight Children’s Foundation is so happy to have partnered with a2zparents to make a difference in the lives of children and their families, right here in our community. As a first project, a2zparents introduced Johanna to Starlight through its compelling interview in the Spring-Summer 2010 edition. As Johanna clearly met the criteria, she was accepted as a Starlight child, to benefit from the Day Brightener program, offered to bring a smile to children who have been severely affected by illness, to support them in their battle. Johanna decided to share her Day Brightener with her classmates as a special bowling party. No problem for Starlight! What a great idea Johanna! All her friends were there, supporting her, surrounding her with smiles and excitement, giving her tokens of love and plenty of hugs and kisses! Johanna’s teacher also brought her a special gift with a beautiful message of support and friendship to encourage her further in her winning battle. Johanna’s Day Brightener and this experience with a2zparents were very inspirational. Johanna and the a2zparents team will join us at our upcoming Great Escapes events, touching the lives of many more children.
Thank you letter
After spending some time with a2zparents last February, our daughter, Johanna Mae, was able to share her story and journey living with Cancer. Following the publication of the article, we were contacted by The Starlight Foundation, who works closely the magazine. It is incredible to think of all of the wonderful foundations out there helping children. Johanna was given the opportunity to have a DAY BRIGHTENER, which is a special request in hopes of bringing a smile to a child's face. Johanna took that opportunity and chose to hold a bowling party for her classmates, to thank them for all of the support they gave her throughout the school year. On a bright and sunny Sunday morning, 25 grade 2 students, their teacher and integration aide, along with several mothers and the angels from a2zparents magazine and The Starlight Foundation took to the bowling lanes and shared a special memory. The children thanked Johanna over and over. Johanna will always remember the kindness and generosity of The Starlight Froundation, allowing her to enjoy such a day as it was. Thank you again for everything that you do! The Wellige Family, Rainer, Lesley, Johanna and William.
